Job Description

About the Role

We're hiring a Clinical Rater to join our psychiatric research team. In this role, you'll be responsible for administering and scoring psychiatric rating scales and neurocognitive test batteries on study participants, conducting clinical interviews, and providing structured assessments of psychiatric state throughout the course of a trial. This is a hands-on, participant-facing position that requires both clinical depth and research rigor.

Critically, we're looking for someone with direct experience working with schizophrenic populations and familiarity with the scales used in that space — PANSS, BPRS, and related instruments. Clinical research experience is a strong plus, though we'll consider candidates from a clinical background who are ready to make the move into the trial setting.

What You'll Do

  • Administer and score psychiatric rating scales (including schizophrenia-specific instruments such as PANSS and BPRS) and neurocognitive test batteries across CNS indications.
  • Conduct clinical interviews and structured assessments to determine participants' current level of functioning and create a clinical impression of psychiatric state throughout the study.
  • Complete participant clinical intake forms (psychiatric history, eligibility/screening forms) and coordinate with the medical monitor on participant inquiries.
  • Conduct telephone screens and pre-screens with potential study candidates.
  • Review and reconcile medical records for enrolled participants; prepare PI notes to address discrepancies as needed.
  • Assist the study team in management and assessment of adverse events and ensure participant safety throughout the trial.
  • Adhere to principles of GCP, informed consent, participant confidentiality, and applicable FDA regulations governing clinical trials.
  • Complete Study Guides and Study Launch with CRC; support recruitment efforts as needed.
  • Mentor staff as needed and take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or Psy.D) in Clinical Psychology required — or a foreign medical degree with formal psychiatric training.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience performing psychological evaluations.
  • Direct clinical experience with schizophrenic or psychotic populations is required — candidates without this background will not be considered.
  • Hands-on experience administering psychiatric rating scales used in schizophrenia research (PANSS, BPRS, or equivalent) is required.
  • Experience with neurocognitive or neuropsychological testing batteries is strongly preferred.
  • Prior clinical research or clinical trial experience is a significant plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and complete paperwork with precision.
  • Ability to interpret and apply clinical guidelines, protocols, and SOPs consistently.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation up to $115,000 annually.
  • Comprehensive benefits package available to full-time employees after 30 days: Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD, STD, Life Insurance, and 401(k).
  • A work environment that promotes teamwork, positive leadership, and work-life balance.
  • Exposure to a wide range of CNS and psychiatric research across Phase I–IV trials at a nationally recognized research site network.
