Legal Assistant

JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with full-service law firm in search of a Legal Assistant to join its litigation team! Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to support attorneys within a Litigation and Insurance Defense practice group. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced legal environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to prioritize and multitask across assignments from multiple attorneys.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with clients, court personnel, and attorneys via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling orders, depositions, client meetings, and other key deadlines in Outlook.
  • Draft, revise, format, and edit documents.
  • Electronically file documents in state and federal court as well as administrative agencies.
  • E-file documents using NYSCEF on behalf of attorneys and maintain familiarity with the NYSCEF e-filing system.
  • Prepare and draft litigation-related documents such as affidavits of service and notices.
  • Generate and edit basic pleadings and discovery requests/responses.
  • Open and close files.
  • Maintain and organize files using SharePoint and other systems.
  • Provide general support to various attorneys in a busy litigation practice.
  • Handle client contact and scheduling.
  • Filing, scanning, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Type dictation for one attorney using the firm’s BigHand software application.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a law firm, specifically within litigation departments, required.
  • 2+ years of experience working in an administrative capacity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint for file organization and management.
  • Familiarity with NYSCEF e-filing system required.
  • Strong typing and transcription experience, including dictation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work with attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to organizational needs.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.

Salary Range

  • $28-$32/hour
