Job Description

The trucking industry is the backbone of the global economy. Roughly 70 percent of what we consume in the U.S. is moved by trucks. Those trucks are powered by over 3.5 million drivers per year and create over $700B in annual revenue. Trucking is a massive industry, but it is a traditional one — and like many traditional industries, it is ripe for innovation.

CloudTrucks is building the operating system for trucking and is the first platform specifically designed to empower truck drivers. Our all-in-one “business in a box” solution optimizes and automates operations and accelerates cash flow for drivers so they can focus on building their business.

Being an all-in-one platform, our product development teams tackle a broad range of complex challenges, ranging from understanding geolocation and logistics route optimizations, to IOT and SaaS integrations, to business workflow automations, to building fintech products.

Senior Software Engineer on the AI Products team , you will play a pivotal role in building the next generation of AI-powered systems across the company. This team leads new business incubations and works on high-impact, zero-to-one initiatives that shape the future of CloudTrucks. You will leverage modern AI technologies, build production-ready systems, and help define how AI transforms the trucking industry.

Examples of projects that you may work on

  • Production-Ready Voice Agents : Build real-time voice agents that automate sales qualification, customer support, and inbound driver workflows.

  • Driver Underwriting Engine : Use LLMs to analyze background checks, driving history, and risk signals, enabling instant, data-driven onboarding and qualification decisions.

  • Claims Automation : Develop AI agents that handle claims intake end-to-end, collect required materials, extract structured data, and submit complete packages to insurance partners.

  • Automated KYC/KYB : Implement fast, compliant identity verification flows to onboard drivers quickly while screening out high-risk actors.

  • Self-Service Onboarding Enhancements : Build generated content and guided flows that educate and prepare drivers efficiently.

  • Greenfield AI Products : Work directly with leadership to launch entirely new business lines within CloudTrucks, from idea validation through MVP and early scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, ship, and maintain solutions to complex problems across the stack.

  • Take complete ownership of projects and features, delivering end-to-end solutions across multiple systems and technologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver a smooth, high-quality customer experience.

  • Contribute to engineering processes, standards, and tooling, especially around AI product development.

  • Mentor other engineers and help them grow in their role.

What we are looking for

  • Strong technical background with 4 or more years of industry experience building production systems.

  • Experience building or integrating AI/ML systems (LLMs, agents, voice, or similar), or strong interest in doing so.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a dynamic, experimental environment.

  • User-focused approach with a bias toward iterative shipping and rapid feedback.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with web technologies and system design.

Nice to haves

  • Full-stack experience with React, HTML, and CSS.

  • Experience with our technical stack: Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Javascript, Typescript, React, Google Cloud.

  • Prior experience working on greenfield products or early-stage incubations.

*This role requires 4 days in office in San Francisco. Our work from home day is Friday.
