Job Description

About Doorvest

Doorvest is a modern, frictionless way to buy and own income-generating rental homes, entirely online. We give everyday investors access to institutional-grade real estate investing — from acquisition through ongoing property management. As we scale our portfolio and acquire property management companies, we're building the internal operations platform that makes it all work behind the scenes.

About the Role

We're looking for someone who sits at the intersection of product thinking, operational know-how, and hands-on building. You'll report directly to the Head of Product and play a key role in shaping how our operations team works — from the internal tools they use every day to the playbooks we run when integrating newly acquired property management companies into Doorvest.

This isn't a traditional PM role where you write specs and hand them off. You'll own the roadmap for our internal case management and pipeline board system, coordinate directly with engineering and ops, and — when the situation calls for it — build lightweight tools and prototypes yourself using AI-assisted development.

This role has four main areas of focus:

1. Product Owner, Internal Ops Tooling

You'll own the product direction for our internal pipeline boards — the systems our ops team uses to manage leasing, renewals, move-outs, delinquency, Section 8 compliance, and more. You'll scope features, write engineering tickets, prioritize the backlog, run demos for the ops team, and make sure what we ship actually solves the problems they face every day.

2. Integration & Project Manager

As Doorvest acquires property management companies, you'll help manage the operational integration. That means comparing management agreements, mapping fee structures, building owner communication plans, coordinating portal migrations, and keeping the whole transition on track. You'll start by supporting the Head of Product on active integrations, with the goal of owning the playbook independently over time.

3. Operational Excellence Driver

Our ops team is growing, and the way we work needs to grow with it. You'll support and help execute cross-functional projects that improve how the team operates—building SOPs, establishing reporting cadences, fixing handoff processes, and tracking workstreams to completion. You won't be setting the strategic agenda alone (that's the Head of Product and COO), but you'll be the person who helps turn "we need to fix this" into a plan with owners, milestones, and follow-through.

4. Builder

You're comfortable using AI-assisted development & automation tools (Claude, Cursor, N8N, Lovable.dev or similar) to prototype dashboards, automate workflows, or build internal utilities without waiting on engineering. You don't need to be a software engineer—but you should be someone who reaches for tools before asking someone else to build it for you.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap for Doorvest's internal operations platform, including pipeline boards, case management workflows, and cross-pipeline automation
  • Write clear, well-scoped engineering tickets that give developers room to make architecture decisions while defining the right outcomes
  • Coordinate across ops and engineering—translating operational pain points into product solutions and helping keep both sides informed on priorities and progress
  • Support and eventually lead the operational integration of acquired property management companies, including operations analysis, fee harmonization, owner communications, and system migration
  • Run demos, gather feedback, and iterate based on what the ops team actually needs
  • Build lightweight tools, dashboards, and prototypes using AI-assisted development to unblock the team or validate ideas quickly
  • Support cross-functional operational improvement projects—helping build SOPs, track progress, and keep work flows moving alongside the Head of Product, ops managers, and COO
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables across multiple concurrent workstreams

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Have 3-5 years of experience in operations, project management, product management, or a hybrid of all three—titles matter less than what you've actually done
  • Have worked in property management, real estate, proptech, or a similarly operationally complex industry
  • Are naturally organized and can manage multiple workflows without things falling through the cracks
  • Can talk to teams about their workflow pain points in the morning and write a technical ticket for an engineer in the afternoon
  • Have used AI-assisted development tools to build things yourself—you don't need to be an engineer, but you should be a builder
  • Thrive in small, fast-moving teams where you wear multiple hats and own outcomes, not just tasks
  • Are a strong communicator—much of this role involves writing (tickets, owner emails, integration plans, async updates), but you'll also need to be comfortable on calls and eventually leading meetings with ops and engineering stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • 1–2 years of direct product management experience (writing roadmaps, managing backlogs, working with engineering teams)
  • Experience with property management software (Rentvine, AppFolio, Buildium, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Linear, Slack, and modern product development workflows
  • Experience supporting M&A integration, company onboarding, or operational transitions
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools like Claude, Cursor, Lovable, or similar
  • Background in business operations, consulting, or program management

Work Authorization

Due to current business constraints, we are unable to sponsor or transfer work visas at this time. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

What We Offer

  • The chance to shape how a growing real estate platform operates from the inside out
  • Direct access to leadership—you'll work closely with the Head of Product and collaborate daily with engineering and ops
  • A role with real ownership where your decisions have immediate, visible impact
